|Donna Safatli – Hue is Head of Employment Specialists with the Employment and Bridging team at ISANS. She supports and works closely with highly skilled clients in various professional backgrounds, such as Engineers, who are seeking substantive employment.
Donna also fills in as the Coordinator of Internationally Educated Engineers (IEE) bridging program placing these engineers with employers for a 3-month work-based competency assessment. These placements create an opportunity for internationally educated engineers to demonstrate their competencies with local engineering firms, obtaining local references, and building their local networks. Donna was also coordinator of a project funded by the Status of Women, entitled, Moving Up: Underemployed Professional Immigrant Women. This is a project designed to help employers to identify the potential of immigrant female employees through their hiring, retention and promotional practices. Donna has worked alongside representatives of Engineers Nova Scotia and the Engineers Canada and Equitable Participation Committee contributing to the success of the project. Donna is passionate about women and their attachment to the labour market and worked in the field of settlement and integration for 10 years. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. with a research focus on the recruitment, settlement, integration and retention of newcomers to Atlantic Canada.
